Last week, I had gone to visit my uncle living in Mississippi, who had recently bought some more farmland and a house. I was amazed to find out how farmers actually used modern technology for their security needs. This seemed a little unusual to me. I had always pictured that the intruders were shot down by the farmers using their shot guns. At least that’s how movies these days still show them to be like. I realized how better informed they were when it came to protecting their property. Maybe farmers and people in the rural areas are the most careful when it comes to guarding their belongings.
My uncle showed me around the place. Here are the things they did to keep their property well protected:
The crime rates were increasing in the rural areas like in the cities. Although comparatively lower, break-ins and burglary were happening here too.
Almost all houses and livestock were surrounded by fences. Apart from providing privacy, fences are the first line of defense your property can have against possible intruders.
You need to be careful about the materials you choose and the height you want for your fence.
Another security strategy you can adopt is to install a combination of motion sensor lights and lights that are automatically switched on at dusk.
This is helpful because, keeping areas well lit will help keep burglars away and you don’t have to worry about switching the lights on every evening or forgetting to do so.
The most important step to protecting your property is to install Home Security Systems. Home alarm systems are more effective than fire arms. Choose the home security alarm systems that will automatically inform the police, in case of break-ins. Home alarm systems save you from the legal consequences you can have from shooting intruders with your shotgun.

In big cities finding a house to live can be hard. People mostly prefer to live in apartments as it compliments their busy lives. Apartments are smaller, so lesser maintenance work; you can clean up an apartment faster than a whole house. The prices of apartments are lower than houses in the same locality. Due to many other reasons like these, people leading busy city lives tend to go for apartments rather than houses.
You also have an added advantage when you live in an apartment- More neighbors. You don’t even have to walk across the street to borrow some if you run out of sugar. Your neighbor lives next door to you. Okay sometimes they can be annoying and noisy in the middle of the night (and that’s why long broomsticks are still in business) but still, neighbors can be your first level of security when you live in apartments. Many people tend to take this as a reason not to install any home security alarm systems in their apartments. This is a huge mistake if you think about it.
Living in an apartment, filled with neighbors does not mean you are safe from burglary. Whether you live in an apartment or a house, it is always good to be careful. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
Here are a few steps you can take to make your apartment safe from intruders:
Many apartments don’t have home security alarm systems and you will have to install them using your own money. If you live in such an apartment, install one immediately, don’t delay, do it right away.
An advantage, when it comes to installing home alarm systems in apartments is that, you don’t have to buy a high-tech very expensive version. A basic system will be more than sufficient.
It’s not pointless to install alarms although you only have one or two doors and a few windows. Having alarms that inform police in the case of a break-in is the best line of defense you can have for your apartment.
Another advantage like I said before, in living in an apartment is having a lot of neighbors and you can look out for each other. Being friendly with your neighbors and helping out each other is a great way of further fortifying your fortress (It is one when you have a home security system installed). Give the trustworthy neighbors your contact information in case of emergency arising; they will be able to contact you immediately.
As you can see, the above tips are simple but should not be ignored as it is always better to be safe than sorry.
